Anita Thomas is an Australian-born American multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and music educator who performed as a musician on The Wiggles Movie Soundtrack, Getting Strong! (while also appearing in its tie-in video special), and The Kingdom Of Paramithi. In 2001, Thomas moved to Los Angeles, and as of 2008, has been based in Baltimore/Washington DC.
Adept at playing clarinet, saxophone, and acoustic bass, Thomas has performed as featured clarinet soloist in John Morrison's Swing City Big Band and as lead alto saxophonist in swing band the Mell-o-tones. She has appeared on stage at various jazz festivals and on studio recordings from other American and Australian musicians and singers such as Emma Pask, Rebecca Kilgore, and Tim Davies, being prominently featured on didgeridoo on the latter's Grammy-nominated "Counting To Infinity".
Thomas has released three studio albums of her own, Anita, Moving On, and Dominoes, and led The Anita Thomas Quartet/Quintet from 1994 to 2001, performing live at multiple Australian festivals and concerts and recording two albums.
in addition to performing as a musician, Thomas has also taught at various music camps, and has worked at the Teagarden Trad Jazz Camp and Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee Jazz Camp since 2005.
