Ahoy there, me hearties!

—Captain Feathersword's catchphrase

This article is about the character. For the song, see here.

Captain Feathersword is a friendly pirate captain who owns The S.S Feathersword, and he's Wags the Dog's best friend. Captain Feathersword also has a Friendly Pirate Crew that idolize and have the same bright and cheerful personality as their captain. He has been primarily portrayed by Paul Paddick since 1996, although Anthony Field portrayed him in the very early days of the group.

He was introduced in 1993 on the EP The Adventures Of Captain Feathersword, The Friendly Pirate. He was created by Anthony because he recognized that predominately boys love pirates, but was given a feather sword rather than a normal sword to make him less intimidating to children.

Official Description[]

Captain Feathersword is a friendly pirate who has a feather as a sword, which he uses to tickle everyone. He has magical, musical pirate buttons, which help the Captain sing in any way and dance like anyone and anything in the world! Whenever he sees his Wiggly friends, he says “Ahoy there, me hearties!”

Trivia[]

  • Captain is the only human Wiggly Friend.
  • Starting from 2010, Captain regularly played bass during live concerts, but this has happened less frequently in recent years due to an increased use of touring musicians. Since 2018, Captain (when played by Dominic Field) has also occasionally played the drums during live concerts.
  • Captain's crew has changed over the years:
  • One of Captain's favorite dances is the reindeer dance from "Here Come The Reindeer".
  • Captain's favorite animals include ducks, roosters, horses and camels.
  • Despite no longer performing the character after 1995, Anthony Field has briefly reprised the character on a few occasions, including some concerts in 1997, a couple of songs in the late 90s, various audiobooks and PC games in 2001, the miniseries Wiggly Fruit Salad and in a Instagram video featuring Henry the Octopus, Tsehay, John, Simon, Jeff, and Dorothy the Dinosaur.[2]
  • The Fruit Salad TV Christmas Special was the only video that had a Spanish Captain Feathersword.
  • He’s the only Wiggly friend to visually have different people portray him because of the understudies, and Anthony and his brothers.
  • He is the only Wiggly friend to have his ear pierced.
