The Kingdom of Paramithi Presents: Cinderella. Written by: Paul Field.
Every day is a special day in the Kingdom of Paramithi! Let's see what is happening today inside Paramithi Palace.
James and Genevieve were cleaning the throne room in preparation for the arrival of King John and Queen Isabella.
James bowed and Genevieve curtsied to Their Majesties as they entered the room. The King and Queen then sat on their thrones.
"As we are in our royal robes, what royal duties do we have to perform?" asked King John.
James looked at the royal appointment book and said, "Your Majesties are presenting the Medal of Paramithi to a very special person." Genevieve agreed and said in French, "Tout à fait special."
It was time for a medal presentation! King John and Queen Isabella presented the Medal of Paramithi to little Maria for feeding and murturing her pet rabbit, 'Lovey-Dovey'!
After the royal duties had been completed, Queen Isabella read a story from the Paramithi Storybook. It was 'Cinderella', the story about a poor girl who marries a prince. It became popular in France hundreds of years ago.
The King enjoyed hearing the story so much that he asked James and Genevieve to produce 'Cinderella' in the Paramithi Theatre! "It'll be cool Daddy-o!" said Genevieve, and then quickly added, "I mean, I will do my best Your Majesties!"
Genevieve had Mario make some beautiful costumes for the show while James allocated parts to everyone! The King would play the part of the Prince and the Queen would play the part of Cinderella. Mario and James would be the naughty stepsisters and Genevieve would be the Fairy Godmother and the unhappy stepmother!
The day of the show arrived. The poor girl named Ella used to sweep out the fireplace and so her unhappy stepmother named her Cinderella! Her naughty stepsisters were very lazy and did not help Cinderella with the housework.
The Prince wanted to find a wife and so invited all the maidens of the kingdom to a royal ball. He hoped he would find someone who was loving and kind and he would make her his Princess.
The naughty stepsisters did not want the beautiful Cinderella to attend the ball and so ripped up her dress! Poor Cinderella was heartbroken and cried for help.
A Fairy Godmother appeared and said, "I'll cast a spell so that you cannot lose! You'll have beautiful clothes and hair and...special sparkly shoes!" And with a wave of her magic wand, Cinderella looked as beautiful as a princess. But the spell would only last until midnight and so she would have to return home before then.
The naughty stepsisters danced with the Prince but he was not interested in them as they were vain, boorish and...well, naughty!
Then the Prince saw Cinderella! He had never seen such beauty before and fell instantly in love. They spoke for hours and then danced and he sang, "I look in your eyes and see my future, but for now it's here in my arms."
Cinderella also had a wonderful time with the Prince. She sang to him, "I look in your eyes and see my future. I see we're together for the rest of our lives."
Suddenly the clock struck twelve. It was midnight! The Fairy Godmother's spell would be broken and so Cinderella ran from the palace. As she left, one of her special sparkly shoes fell off.
The Prince had finally met the love of his life but she had run away from the ball. All she left behind was a special sparkly shoe! And so the Prince knew that if he could find who owned the shoe he would find his one true love again!
The Prince travelled the countryside and hundreds of women tried to fit into the special sparkly shoe! The Prince had almost given up hope when he came to the house of Cinderella and the naughty stepsisters.
The naughty stepsisters tried in vain to fit into the special sparkly shoe. The Prince did not recognise Cinderella in her old work clothes but as it was the last home in the village he asked her to try on the special sparkly shoe.
The shoe fitted perfectly onto Cinderella's foot. The Prince looked into Cinderella's eyes and at once recognised his one true love.
The Prince knelt down and asked if Cinderella would do him the honour of becoming his wife.
Cinderella, with no hesitation, accepted his proposal. The Prince and Cinderella were married in a beautiful ceremony in the palace and they lived happily ever after!
The people of Paramithi were delighted with the performance of 'Cinderella'! The cast took a bow as the audience applauded.
Back in the throne room, King John thanked James and Genevieve for putting on such a wonderful production. King John then looked at Queen Isabella and said, "I love you, my Queen." Queen Isabella softly held the King's hand and said, "And I love you, King John." It was another special day in the Kingdom of Paramithi!
