"Five Little Ducks" is a classic children's song. This song is primarily sung by Murray, accompanied by Captain Feathersword. The song is well known for a gag in its live performances where Captain gets emotional when none of the ducks come back. The song debuted on the Wake Up Jeff! album. It was also featured on the 1998 Wiggle Time! video as a concert clip from the 1997 Big Show.

English[]

Five little ducks went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
But only four little ducks came back

Four little ducks went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
But only three little ducks came back

Three little ducks went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
But only two little ducks came back

Two little ducks went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
But only one little duck came back

One little duck went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
But none of the five little ducks came back

Oh, dear. That made father duck really sad.

Yeah.

So, he went looking for the Five Little Ducks.

Yeah.

Old father duck went out one day
Over the hills and far away
Father duck said quack, quack, quack, quack
And all of the five little ducks came back

Trivia[]

  • Murray is the only Wiggle who appears in the 2006 video.
  • The 1996, Taiwanese and Latin American versions play in C whereas most other versions in D, the 2022 version in G, and the 2023 version in A.
  • On Xuxa's album and video "Xuxa Só Para Baixinhos", the Brazilian version is called Cinco Patinhos.
  • The first time Captain Feathersword did not cry during this song was in Racing to the Rainbow.
  • When this song is performed nowadays, it is called Three Little Ducks. Unlike the original, Lachy and Captain Feathersword now perform it while standing up and Captain Feathersword doesn't cry during the song, because he's playing Father Duck (the three little ducks are played by Oliver, Simon and Anthony).
  • In the 2006 Mandarin and Latin American Animations, 2020 Live from Hot Potato Studios and 2022 Wiggly Nursery Rhymes versions, Captain Feathersword was absent.
  • When the OG Wiggles did this song at their concerts, Murray and Captain Feathersword sang it while sitting down, while Jeff was on the Keyboard, Anthony was on the Blue/Red Electric or Acoustic Guitar (by Takamine and Maton) and Greg was on the Violin Bass (by Höfner) or the Electric Bass (mostly by Fender). In Wiggly Safari Tour, Greg and Anthony swap roles playing the Acoustic Guitar and Bass Guitar and in Wiggly Party: Live in Concert, Ryan De Saulnier was on Jeff's Purple Electric Guitar (by Maton).
  • Unlike The Wiggles' other songs, Murray Cook did the lead vocals on this song, instead of Greg Page, even in case they have Sam Moran filling in for Greg, starting at a 2003 American Show in Santa Barbara, when Greg's mother-in-law, Jane Hill died.
  • It's rumored that the song was on the unreleased version of Wake Up Jeff.
  • This is one of the very few songs where Greg played the bass guitar or acoustic guitar instead of singing the song.
  • The Father Duck costume from the 1997 live version was later used for "El Pato" in Cold Spaghetti Western.
  • The part where (in concert versions) Captain Feathersword being sad in the middle and becoming happy again at the end also happened in the song "Vegetable Soup".
  • Several versions of the song were uploaded to YouTube:
    • The Bushfire Relief show on January 17, 2022
    • The Wiggly Nursery Rhymes version on June 27, 2022
    • A version sung by Tsehay on June 10, 2023
