John William Michael Field (born May 15, 1962) is an Australian guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer who worked with The Wiggles for several years, and is responsible for writing and co-writing some of their biggest and most popular hits, such as "Hot Potato", "Get Ready To Wiggle", and "The Monkey Dance". He is the younger brother of musician and former Wiggles manager Paul Field and the older brother of founding blue Wiggle Anthony Field, having worked with them and founding purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt in the rock band The Cockroaches prior to the Wiggles' creation.

Outside of working with the Wiggles, Field performs as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of live event bands John Field and The Epics and The John Field Band, and also performs with brother Paul as the musical duo The Field Brothers, with the latter 2 groups having released 2 studio albums each as of 2023. Field also serves as the owner and main composer of John Field Production Music, a production music company that licenses stock music for use in various media, and has written 2 musicals: 2001's Evie & the Birdman and 2017's Who Loves Me?, both of which feature several performers who have worked with the Wiggles including Sam Moran, Ryan Delsaulnier, Emma Pask, and Simon Pryce.

He is married to Jacqueline Fallon, who was once the voice of Dorothy the Dinosaur for a brief time in 2002-2005, and together, they have 4 children: Seamus, John Paul, Carla. and Julius. Field is also the brother in law to Australian performer Leon Fallon.

Career with The Wiggles[]

Field worked with the Wiggles since the beginning of the group's creation in 1991, and even though he was never a full-time member, he busked with them around the streets of Sydney and occasionally appeared at their concerts during their early years.

Field initially started out writing a handful of songs on a given album, but slowly grew to being a regular contributing songwriter alongside the 4 main band members and Dominic Lindsay. He also regularly contributed to the albums as a guitarist, and with brother Paul, co-produced some albums for the Dorothy the Dinosaur spinoff franchise.

As of 2014, Field has stopped working with the Wiggles as a songwriter and musician. He briefly worked with the group again in 2017 on the album Och Aye the G'Nu! (a collaboration with Jimmy Barnes) but he has not contributed to a Wiggles album in any capacity since then. He has most recently appeared as a guest performer on the January 18th, 2020 Reunion Show, performing in tribute to the then-ill Greg Page.

Post-Wiggles Activities[]

Since ceasing work with The Wiggles, Field has moved on to other projects, such as co-creating & co-writing the children's program The Outback Aussie Show with brother-in-law Leon Fallon, writing and directing the music for the ABC Kids television show SplashDance, writing the story, music, and lyrics for the children's books Stanley's Learning the Trumpet and Why Is That Emu Wearing One Red Shoe?, and the 2017 children's album Animal Songs and Sounds.

In 2017, Field also started his own record label Moomaluma, which had its first release with the album 13 Voices on August 14th that year. He has also released two other solo albums with ABC Music: 2020's Dipped in Love and 2021's The Lilt of Gravity, and wrote the music for the ABC Kids show The Nannas and the Poppas.
