"Marie's Wedding" is an Irish/Scottish folk song from the Hoop-Dee-Doo it's a Wiggly Party album and video.

Lyrics[]

Step we gaily on we go
Heel for heel and toe for toe
Arm in arm and off we go
On for Marie's wedding

Over hillways, up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the sheiling through the town
All for sake of Marie

Hey, Chorus

Plenty herring, plenty meal
Plenty peat to fill our krill
Plenty bonnie belles as well
That's the toast for Marie

Hey, Chorus

Cheeks as bright as rowans are
Brighter far than any star
Fairest of them all by far
Is my darling Marie (hey)

Chorus

(hey)

Chorus

Over hillways, up and down
Myrtle green and bracken brown
Past the shieling through the town
All for sake of Marie
(hey)

Chorus

Trivia[]

  • This is the fourth Irish/Scottish based song The Wiggles sang, the first was "Di Dicki Do Dum", (aka "The Liberton Boys Polka") the second was "Bucket Of Dew", and the third was "Nya Nya Nya" (aka "I'll Tell Me Ma")
  • The 2001 version plays in E whereas the 2007 version plays in G.
  • The confetti in the 2001 version originally came from the end of Barney's Musical Castle. The Wiggles most likely got the confetti from when they performed for the intermissions of Barney's Musical Castle as part of Lyrick Studios in North America.
  • This is one of the very few songs where despite Greg being on screen while singing it, he didn't lip-sync his own vocals.
  • The line "Arm and Arm and Row and Row" was changed to "Arm and Arm and Off We Go" for The Wiggles' version.
  • The 2001 clip was later used as inspiration for the Wiggle, Wiggle, Wiggle! episode A Wiggly Wedding, as it was about Wags and Dorothy having a pretend wedding.
  • Henry the Octopus played the role of the groom in some live performances of the song.
