We’re about to do a music lesson, and we want you to join in with us.
Are you ready?
Okay, I’m going to play the drum - the snare drum.
And I’m going to ask if you can describe the sound and make the sound after I play it.

Snare drum.
(SNARE DRUM RAT-A-TATS)
Anthony: Caterina. How did that sound to you?
Caterina: Oh, I think it went rat-a-tat, tat, rat-a-tat, tat.
Was that right?
Anthony: Let’s do it together. Ready?
Caterina: Rat-a-tat, tat, rat-a-tat, tat.
Anthony: Oh, brilliant.
You have a go at it, too. Ready?
All: Rat-a-tat, tat, rat-a-tat, tat.
Anthony: Fantastic. Well, everyone, we’ve got another instrument to play.
And that is a trumpet.
And this is a blue trumpet, because my favourite colour is blue.
Trumpet is a brass instrument and it makes a big sound.
So I’m going to ask Simon if he can make the sound of the trumpet after I play it.
You can try it too, at home.
Music makers, OK, here we go.
(PLAYS A SCALE)
Anthony: Try that, Simon.
Simon: (IMITATES TRUMPET SCALE)
Anthony: Wow!
Can you do that sound with Simon and me too?
You ready? Here we go.
(ALL IMITATE TRUMPET SCALE)
Anthony: Fantastic!
Well, there’s one more instrument.
Tsehay, I’m going ask you to imitate this one.
It’s called the bass guitar.
Everybody, the bass guitar has four strings and it keeps the rhythm in the band.
It’s lots of fun.
Tsehay, listen to this, and you can have a listen, too, and play the bass guitar after you hear this.

(PLAYS WALKING BASS)
Tsehay: Amazing. Let me try.

Anthony: That was wonderful.

Well, here’s the big challenge now.
I’m going to ask everybody to play their instruments that you’ve just learned, so, you play the bass guitar Tsehay.
Caterina on the drum, and Simon, of course, on the trumpet.
Now I’ll conduct it, everybody.
