Rhyming and dress-ups with me

Hello, there, welcome to Wiggle and Learn.

My name is Lachy and how much fun was Michael Finnegan, begin again.

That rhymes, and that’s why it’s so much fun.

Imagine you had two words that sound the same at the end.

Like cat and hat. Cat, Hat. Cat Hat.

(LAUGHS) When you say it together it sounds fun and musical, right?

Well, that’s called a rhyme.

Rhyming is when words have the same sound at the end, and it makes language sound playful and catchy. Cat Hat.

People use rhymes in songs, poems, and stories to make them more interesting and enjoyable to listen to. It’s a special way of playing with words.

A rhyme for bat, cat.

A rhyme for chair, hair.

A rhyme for bee, flea.

A rhyme for jug, bug.

Look everybody, It’s Simon. Hello Simon.

Simon: Hello, Lachy. Hi, everyone.

Lachy: Simon, do you like rhyming?

Simon: Lachy, rhyming when all is said and done.

Rhyming can be so much fun.

Lachy: Simon, try this then. Rhyme for red.

Simon: Bed.

Lachy: Red, bed.

Simon: Red bed.

Red bed (LAUGHS)

Lachy: Look everybody, it’s Dorothy the Dinosaur.

Whenever you dance we want…

Lachy and Simon: …more!

(DOROTHY GIGGLES)

Dorothy the Dinosaur: Hello there my favourite friends.

When you start rhyming, the fun never ends.

Simon: Well, I have to say this rhyming day has made me smile. I’ll be on my way.

Lachy: Oh, one last rhyme, one more time.

As I say goodbye to this friend of mine.

Simon: Goodbye.

Lachy: Bye.

Dorothy the Dinosaur: The beautiful sound of the music box.

I wonder what’s inside it today.

Lachy: Music box, music box

Let’s look inside

Music box, music box

What do you hide?

Music box, music box

I have the key

Let’s open it up and see

Music box, music box

Come look with me

Music box, music box

What can you see?

Music box, I wonder what you contain

Look, it’s an aeroplane.

An aeroplane flies in the sky with two wings.

It has propellors or engines and it carries passengers from one place to another.

Have you been on an aeroplane?

Do you ever wonder how they fly?

They’re like a giant bird in the sky

A holiday in the sky

As long as you’re together, that can be anywhere

You know love also flies

Watching the planes go by

Do you ever wonder how they fly?

They’re like a giant bird in the sky

Lachy: Watching the planes at the airport made me think.

Why don’t we make a pretend aeroplane and fly to the outback?

Wiggles: Aw, too right, Lachy!

Great idea mate!

Caterina: Grouse!

Anthony: Yeah! Hey Lachy, maybe look in the dress-up box for a pilot’s outfit.

Tsehay: Maybe two.

Anthony: Yeah, and what else John?

John: A flight attendant’s outfit.

Anthony: Yeah!

Lachy: What clothes will we find in the dress-up box?

Some groovy pants or a hat or a pair of socks

What clothes will we find in the dress-up box?

Tsehay: Lachy, I’ve always wanted to be a pilot.

So, if there are two outfits, then we can co-pilot.

Lachy: Great idea, Tsehay.

Tsehay: Oh, thank you.

John: Lachy? Can you see if there are any flight attendant outfits?

One holiday I met some flight attendants chaps and they were so much fun.

It made me want to be a pretend flight attendant.

Lachy: Oh, let me have a look.

Aha! There we go, Johnny.

Hope that brings back some lovely memories.

Well, now that we’re all ready, let’s go on our plane trip!

Caterina: Oh, okay Anto, let’s assemble some chairs and make a plane that can take us to the outback.

Anthony: Too right, Caterina. Let’s make the plane.

Well, the plane is ready for the..

Caterina and Anthony: …flight crew.

Caterina: We can be the passengers!

Anthony: Great idea.

Tsehay: This is Captain Tsehay speaking.

We will soon be taking off. We need all of your seatbelts done up.

And John, our flight attendant, will be rhyming and rapping down the aisle to check.

John: My name is John, I’m the flight attendant

This is the safety demonstration

Stay seated, keep your seatbelts fastened

We’re gonna take off when you hear the captain

Lifejackets are under your seat

We’ll be flying at 30,000 feet

Tray tables stowed, window shades up

Now we’re ready to go

Cause we’re

Wiggles: Flying high in the sky

Clouds go by, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Lachy: Okay, we’re about to take off and head to the outback.

Anthony: Not so fast Captain Lachy, Captain Tsehay, and Flight Attendant Johnny, Passenger Caterina.

Everybody, we need to fly, so why don’t we go outside to fly?

We gonna have to build the pretend plane outside. You ready?

Tsehay: Hi, everybody. Look who’s with me. It’s Bok the hand puppet.

Everybody say, “Hi, Bok.”

Hi, Bok!

(GASPS) And Bok says a very big hello back to you.

Really?

Bok says it’s a beautiful day and..

..that we should sing and dance with along Anthony and Lachy.

Good job, Bok!

Lachy: The sun has risen, it is high in the sky

It makes you smile, brings a twinkle to your eye

The sun has risen, it's the start of the day

Hearts jump for joy and then we say

Dance, dance, dancing, everyone

A world of dance, come join in the fun

A world of dance, brings joy for everyone

As we smile and dance, come join in the fun.

Lachy: Yes, Bok.

Mm-hm.

Yep. Bok had so much fun dancing with Anthony and I.

But… Hmm?

Mm-hm. Yes.

But Bok really looks forward to doing some different types of dancing with Simon and Wags.

Simon: The sun has risen, it is high in the sky

It makes you smile, brings a twinkle to your eye

The sun has risen, it's the start of the day

Hearts jump for joy and then we say

Dance, dance, dancing, everyone

A world of dance, come join in the fun

A world of dance, brings joy for everyone

As we smile and dance, come join in the fun.

Anthony: Bok was just saying he loved dancing with Wags and with Simon.

Well, Bok, I’ve got a question for you.

Who would you like to dance with next?

Tsehay?

What sort of dance does Tsehay like?

Wow! She’s sort of dancing a beautiful dance.

Ooh! Yeah.

Like that! Yeah!

This is going to be lots of fun.

Bok, is there anybody else you’d like to dance with?

Dorothy the Dinosaur. How does Dorothy dance?

Oh yeah, more balletic, I guess.

(GASPS) You want Simon to dance again?

He wants Simon to dance again. How does Simon dance?

Oh, this is gonna be fun.

Everybody, get ready to dance with Simon…

..with Dorothy…

..and with Tsehay.

Oh, this is going to be so much fun.

Tsehay: (RAPS) You can do it too, do what you choose

Jump like a kangaroo, that’s all you need to do

Hop on one foot, then jump with two

Jump around, be fast or slow

Spin around and get real low

Step to the back and slide to the side

Kick your feet and smile

Grab a friend, dance in pairs

Simon: Dance, dance

Tsehay: You can do this anywhere

Simon: Dancing, everyone

Tsehay: So wave your hands up in the air

While you’re sitting in a chair

Dancing is for everyone

Simon: A world of dance

Tsehay: It’s even better in the sun

Simon: Brings joy to everyone

Tsehay: So, don’t be shy, it’s so much fun

Let’s dance and move till the song is done.

Those are some pretty good dance suggestions, Bok.

Good job.

Oh! Great!

And now, Bok wants us to dance all together.

All: Yay!

Simon and Lachy: The sun has risen, it is high in the sky

It makes you smile, brings a twinkle to your eye

The sun has risen, it's the start of the day

Hearts jump for joy and then we say

Dance, dance dancing, everyone

A world of dance, come join in the fun

A world of dance brings joy for everyone

As we smile and dance, come join in the fun.
