Sam Moran (born April 4, 1978) is an Australian singer, musician, and entertainer who is best known as the second Yellow Wiggle in The Wiggles, performing in the role from November 2006 to January 2012.

Before joining The Wiggles, Moran studied classical voice and music education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under Robert Allman AM OBE. He began performing with The Wiggles in 1998, initially performing as one of the hosts of The Dorothy the Dinosaur and Friends Show and later would go on to portray Professor Singalottasonga and Dapper Dave in The Wiggles Show! television series during the 2000s. He also provided backing vocals for several international Wiggles groups, such as the Spanish and Taiwanese versions.

Outside of The Wiggles, Moran has appeared in numerous stage musicals, including Haste to the Wedding, John Field’s Evie & the Birdman, Forever Plaid, Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, and Seven Little Australians. During his tenure with The Wiggles, he performed in over 150 live shows and contributed to 11 albums, 12 DVDs, and various television series. Moran toured extensively with the group across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Asia, performing at major venues including Madison Square Garden.

Career with The Wiggles[]

In November 2006, Moran became the Yellow Wiggle following Greg Page’s retirement. His first years in the role saw The Wiggles win two ARIA Awards for Pop Go The Wiggles! in 2007 and You Make Me Feel Like Dancing in 2008. Moran’s contribution as lead vocalist brought a strong theatrical and operatic element to the group’s performances, which were praised for their energy and warmth. He remained with The Wiggles until 2012, when he was succeeded by Page once again.

Post-Wiggles Activities[]

After leaving The Wiggles, Moran pursued a successful solo career in children’s entertainment. He created, hosted, and produced Play Along with Sam for Nickelodeon Australia’s Nick Jr. channel, which aired from 2013 to 2021. The program received multiple nominations, including for Best Children’s Album at the ARIA Music Awards, and won the 2015 ARIA Award for Play Along with Sam: Boo!. The show also earned recognition at the Logie and ASTRA Awards.

In addition to children’s music, Moran released his first adult contemporary album Colour of Love in 2010 through Sony Music Australia, featuring covers of classic love songs, including a duet with jazz vocalist Emma Pask on “God Only Knows.” As of the 2020s, Moran continues to perform, write, and record, and create original music.
