The Wiggles Big Show is a 60 minute[Note 1] Wiggles concert special filmed at the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Centre during the tour of the same name in 1997.

It aired on Disney Channel Australia on 17th September 2000.[1] However, it likely premiered before this date, as after the success of The Wiggles in Disneyland (at the end of 1998), Wiggles specials were set to air on the Disney Channel in 1999.[2]

Mister Moose's Fun Time lists "The Big Show" among the credits of Wiggles videos that had clips featured in that show. Assuming that is indeed referring to this concert, we know it was directed by Chisholm McTavish and produced by Nick Pike.

Availability

The special has never been released in full on VHS or DVD, and as a whole is considered lost media. When The Wiggles announced in November 2020 that unreleased and rare content will be uploaded to their official YouTube channel, Jack Tori requested The Wiggles Big Show. Anthony later confirmed that the concert has been found (which was assumed to mean the TV special and/or full concert), to potentially be uploaded in the future.[3] On August 18, 2022, the much-awaited release of the concert saw only a compilation of the songs (except "We Like To Say Hello"), of which the source appears to be Let's Wiggle episodes. As such, the special remains lost.

Individual clips of the concert can still be seen in a few different places, with the most comprehensive being that very YouTube video. Additionally, the 1998 version of Wiggle Time! and The Wiggles' first and second TV series make use of some of the songs. Some Let's Wiggle episodes are featured as bonuses at the end of the Playskool VideoNow Jr. editions of "Wiggle Opera" (see HE 1: 3 Disc Pack) and "Foodman" (see HE 2: 3 Discs). The clips from Wiggle Time! were also seen at the end of the Barney's Musical Castle VHS in the USA and Canada.

There are also further pieces of lost media which feature the concert, including the GMTV version of series 2 and the Fox Family series Mister Moose's Fun Time.

Rumored

Although it's assumed that all songs from the concert appeared in the TV special, depending on how long the concert was versus the allotted time for the special, it's possible some songs were cut. For other songs known to have been performed at the concert, that may be present in the TV special, see here.

  1. Wave to Wags
    • A shot of a girl in the audience waving is seen in the promo, and this shot takes place during "Wave To Wags" in Wiggle Time!, Muscleman Murray and Let's Wiggle. However, in the promo, this shot is included with footage of "We Like To Say Hello", possibly indicating the shot was used there instead.

Note

  1. Since the special aired at 5:30pm until 6:30pm, the special might have ran between 50-55 minutes (which would make 60 minutes with an ad break at the end of special).
