Victor Valdes is a Mexican-Australian harpist, singer, and dancer who has collaborated with The Wiggles on several occasions, such as performing as a musician on Santa's Rockin'! and The Sound of Christmas, appearing as a guest star in the music video for "We're All Fruit Salad!" and the Ready Steady WIggle! episode "The Instruments We Love to Play", and writing and arranging various songs released by the band. Valdes has also played Captain Feathersword in both the Latin American Wiggles Play Time videos on YouTube and the Fruit Salad TV Christmas Special, filling in for Paul Paddick in the latter appearance.
Since 1998, Valdes has served as the leader of Victor Valdes and The Real Mexico Mariachi Band, a Sydney-based traditional mariachi group that has performed live in various countries. He has appeared at various Australian music festivals including WOMAdelaide, the Woodford Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, and Bluesfest (where he was named Director's Choice in 2011) and was a member of award-winning Mexican folk group Tlen Huicani from 1987 to 1997, during which he gave numerous performances at the Sydney Opera House.
Valdes has also appeared in concert and on albums with various other Australian and international musical artists including Angus & Julia Stone, Mirusia, Los Lobos, Jimmy Barnes, Paquito D'Rivera, and Maya Jupiter.
