"Volunteer Firefighter" is a re-recording of The Wiggles song New York Firefighter The original version of the song was inspired by Brian Cannizzaro and all the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.

It is a reinvention of our song ‘New York Firefighter’, which was originally written as a tribute to Brian Cannizzaro and all the firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11. This song is designed to be a fun and engaging way for children to learn about and celebrate those brave volunteers often find themselves in harm’s way. Purple Wiggle, John Pearce - who sings this song - has undergone SES (State Emergency Service) training, and assisted around Sydney during floods and storms. John is passionate about volunteer services and helping the community in times of need, such as during times of natural disaster. "Volunteering my time with the SES has been a really rewarding experience. I've learnt some useful skills and it feels extremely fulfilling knowing I can give back to the community in times of need" First responders protect and care for our communities. The work they do is vitally important, and is also often confronting, traumatic, and dangerous. This leads to higher rates of psychological distress and mental health conditions in the first responder community as well as spillover stress suffered by first responders’ families.
